1) ABOUT MATHIS
We will perform only the 1st and 2nd movements, plus the closing Alleluia (3rd movement, m. 519 to the end). Partly this is about the program theme: these are the portions of the story (and the triptych) that relate to the Christ story. The third movement is long and tortuous, not quite in keeping with the celebration.
